Add, edit, and archive notes – BriteClaims

The ability to add, edit, and archive notes depends on your user role and claim status. You can only add, edit, and archive a note when you access the Notes section from an FNOL, a claim file, or an exposure file. You can’t add, edit, or archive a note when you accessed the Notes section from the Claims Home screen.

To add a note:

  1. Select the notes icon. The Notes section will open.
  2. Select Add note.
  3. In the Title box, type the note title. This is a required field.
  4. In the Content box, type the description or body of the note. This is a required field.

Note: You can format your content by using the text box toolbar tools or by typing in markdown. If you choose to type in markdown, select the Markdown is supported link to open the How to use Markdown pop-up window, which provides common markdown formatting tips.

  5. From the Note type dropdown list, select the type of note you’re creating. You can only select one option from the dropdown list. This is a required field.
  6. From the Tags dropdown list, select one or more tags to apply to the note. This isn’t a required field, but using tags may allow you to more easily locate the note in the future, as you can filter the notes list by Tags.
  7. From the Related to dropdown list, select the exposure and coverage name the note is related to. You can select only one option from the dropdown list. This isn’t a required field, but selecting an option from Related to may allow you to more easily locate the note in the future, as you can filter the notes list by Related to.
  8. From the Related parties dropdown list, select the party or parties associated with the note you’re creating. This isn’t a required field, but selecting an option or options from Related parties may allow you to more easily locate the note in the future, as you can filter the notes list by Related parties.

Considerations

You can edit and archive only the notes you created.

If a lock icon appears in the right-hand corner of a note, this indicates that the note is locked and that you won’t be able to edit or archive a note. The locked note is managed by the setting Enable note locking, which can be found in Notes > Settings. If you choose to enable note locking, you can select how soon after the note is created that it will lock by selecting a number from the Lock note after <Number> hours of note creation. Select Save.
