Disable multi-factor authentication

As an administrator, you can enable multi-factor authentication (MFA), enable text message MFA, or set a preferred MFA method for your users.

When needed, however, you can disable MFA or a specific MFA type for one or more users.

Disable all MFA for a single user

  1. In the BriteCore menu, select Users.
  2. In the Search box, type the user’s name.
  3. Select the checkbox next to the name of the user you want to disable MFA for.
  4. Select … More from the Users and Groups table header row.
  5. Select Disable Multi-factor Authentication.
  6. In the dialog box, select Disable.

Disable an MFA type for a single user

  1. In the BriteCore menu, select Users.
  2. In the Search box, type the user’s name.
  3. Select the user’s name to open the Edit User screen.
  4. In the Security section under Text Message (SMS) or under Authenticator App, select Deactivate (as applicable).

Disable all MFA for multiple users

  1. In the BriteCore menu, select Users.
  2. Select the checkboxes next to the names of the users you want to disable MFA for.

Note: You can use the Search box to filter the list of users. However, you must manually clear your search criteria from the Search box before trying to disable MFA. If you leave search criteria in the Search box when you disable MFA, BriteCore will disable MFA only for the users that met the current search criteria. BriteCore won’t disable MFA for users you have selected that don’t meet the current search criteria.

  3. Select … More from the Users and Groups table header row.
  4. Select Disable Multi-factor Authentication.
  5. In the dialog box, verify the number of users is correct.
  6. Select Disable.
