Import/Export custom access configurations

Access control is determined by configuration in BriteAccess. The product comes with a set of System Access Control Permissions (ACP), but you can use custom ACPs to create new permissions. Access role assignment configurations can be customized as well. Replicating the access control configuration can be time-consuming, especially if the system is configured with many roles and custom ACPs.

Exporting from an existing site and importing to another allows for faster configuration between sites.

The Import/Export feature in BriteAccess opens a dialog box from which you can export data from that site or import data from another site. The mechanism has both YAML and JSON support for file formats.

This tutorial guides you on how to use the Import/Export feature in BriteAccess.

Import/Export custom ACPs

  1. In the BriteCore menu, select Access.
  2. In the Access menu, select Import/Export.
    1. To import: In the Import/Export BriteAccess Data dialog box, select the Import tab and then select Select a YAML of JSON file to import.
      1. Navigate to and select the applicable file using Finder or Windows Explorer, then select Open.
    2. To export: In the Import/Export BriteAccess Data dialog box, select the Export tab, then select either Download YAML or Download JSON. The file will download; navigate to your browser’s downloads folder to locate the file.

Any issues with the import process will be displayed after the import is finished. Usually, these issues are related to the differences between existing users in different sites, resulting in unsuccessful assignments.
