Link policies

In BriteCore, multi-policy discounts and combined billing require policy groups, which are created by linking policies. A policy can be linked to one policy group only. If you try to link a policy to more than one policy group, a Warning pop-up window will appear stating that the policy already exists in a policy group.

You can link policies from the policy header on the policy Overview screens or from the policy header on the Accounts Receivable screen.

Link to an existing policy

To link policies from the policy header on a policy’s Overview screens:

  1. Select Policies.
  2. On the Policy Search screen, select a policy number to open a policy.
  3. Under Policy ID, select the purple link icon to open the Linked Policies dialog box.
  4. In the Linked Policies dialog box, use the Search box to search for a policy to link.

Note: Because you will most often want to link policies with the same insured, it’s quicker to search for policies by insured name.

  1. Select the policy you want to link.
  2. Select Done to close the Linked Policies dialog box. The policies are now linked.

To link policies from the policy header on a policy’s Accounts Receivable screen:

  1. Select Policies.
  2. On the Policy Search screen, select a policy number to open a policy.
  3. Select Accounts Receivable.
  4. In the policy header, navigate to Linked Policies and select the ellipsis.
  5. Select Edit. The Linked Policies dialog box will open and display the Link a Policy view by default.
  6. Use the Search box to search for a policy to link.

Note: Because you will most often want to link policies with the same insured, it is quicker to search for policies by insured name.

  7. Select the green link button next to the policy you want to link.
  8. Select Done to close the Linked Policies dialog box. The policies are now linked.

Create a new linked policy

To link new policies, it’s best to create each new policy using your standard quote flow, and then link the policies once they’re created. However, you can use the Create New Linked Policy button to create a duplicate policy that is linked to the original.

To create a new linked policy from the policy header of a policy’s Overview screens:

  1. Select Policies.
  2. On the Policy Search screen, select a policy number to open a policy.
  3. Under Policy ID, select the purple link icon to open the Linked Policies dialog box.
  4. Select Create New Linked Policy. BriteCore will create a duplicate policy with a new policy number.

To create a new linked policy from the policy header of a policy’s Accounts Receivable screen:

  6. Select Create New Linked Policy. BriteCore will create a duplicate policy with a new policy number.

To remove a linked policy from the policy header of a policy’s Accounts Receivable screen:
