Manage claim and exposure tags

Claim and exposure status tags are created and managed within the Tag Maintenance screen under System Admin. See Manage tags. Tags are used to provide additional information about the claim or exposure file, similar to the various statuses used in Classic Claims. You can manually apply tags to a claim file or exposure file. In the future, the system will automatically apply tags to a claim or exposure based on specific instances.

To manually add an exposure tag or claim tag:

  1. In the claim file header or exposure file header, navigate to the tag icon in the top-right corner.

Note: If you’re unsure if you’re in the claim file header or the exposure file header, see Claim file and exposure file headers and left menu navigation.

  2. Select the dropdown arrow or tag. A list of available tags will open.
  3. Select the tag(s) you want to apply.
  4. Select Save.

To manually remove an exposure tag or claim tag:

  1. In the claim file header or exposure file header, navigate to the tag icon in the top-right corner.
  2. Select the dropdown arrow or tag. A list of tags will open, including the tags already displayed.
  3. Deselect the checkboxes of the tags that you want to remove.
  4. Select Save.

Future functionality

The future configuration will enable the system to automatically apply tags to a claim file or exposure file in specific situations; for example:

  • If Fatality is marked Yes in an injury record associated with an exposure, then the system will automatically add the Fatality tag to that exposure.
  • If Medicare eligible? is marked Yes in an injury record associated with an exposure, then the system will automatically add the Medicare tag to that exposure.
  • If the state added in the  Loss Location State box differs from the state listed as the insured’s primary address, then the system will automatically add the Out of State tag to that claim.
  • If there is an open Salvage reserve and/or a Salvage Recovery Receipt on an exposure, then the system will automatically add the Salvage tag to that exposure.
  • If there is an open Subrogation reserve and/or a Subrogation Recovery Receipt on an exposure, then the system will automatically add the Subro tag to that exposure.

Usage considerations

When a tag is automatically applied to a claim file or exposure file, it can’t be manually removed. To remove the tag, you would need to update the item that triggered the system to automatically apply the tag.
