Manage rules for BriteClaims

Rules created for roles plus claim/exposure status are established and managed in BriteRules. System Administrators have the ability to manage BriteClaims rules in BriteRules.

Permissions

For BriteClaims, there are two types of permissions:

  • Role-based permissions. Role-based permissions are managed in BriteAccess.
  • Role plus claim/exposure status permissions. These permissions are managed by rules in BriteRules.

BriteAccess

Permissions are created and associated with roles in BriteAccess. BriteAccess permissions are configurable. Currently, adding a new role and associating the role to permissions is handled by BriteCore. If you have questions or want to add or remove a permission from a role, please contact your BriteCore support team.

BriteRules

Rules are created and associated with roles and with claim/exposure status in BriteRules. Rules in BriteRules are configurable. System admins have access to BriteRules and are able to manage rules for roles and claim/exposure status.

Manage rules in BriteRules

You can enable and disable UI control rules in BriteRules. Once you update rules, you will need to deploy those changes to your environment. You will need to export rules from your test environment, import rules to your live environment, and then deploy those rules.

Enable and disable UI control rules

To locate the UI rule you want to enable or disable, you have to navigate through levels of folders that follow this pattern: UI controls > rules > <product> > <product sections> > <role> > <claim/exposure status>. At each folder level, you can scroll and locate the subfolder you want to open, or you can search for the subfolder you want to open. For example, if you wanted to disable claims assistants from entering payments on the Accounting screen when a claim has been reopened, you can disable the rule that allows claims assistants to enter payment when a claim is reopened.

To enable or disable rules:

  1. Select Rules.
  2. On the Projects screen or from the Projects menu, navigate to and select UI Controls.

Note: This may appear in the Identity section on the Projects screen or in the Identity submenu within the Projects menu.

  3. On the UI Controls screen, select the ui-controls folder link to open the ui-control folder.
  4. In the ui-control folder, select the rules subfolder link to open the rules subfolder.
  5. In the rules subfolder, select the subfolder link of the product associated with the rule you want to enable or disable.
    1. For rules associated with BriteClaims and for the rule in the above example, you would select the claims subfolder.
  6. In the product subfolder, select the product section subfolder link associated with the rule you want to enable or disable.
    1. For the example above, in the claims subfolder, you would select exposure-lvl-accounting-payment

Note: Claim payments can be issued only at the exposure level, not at the claim level.

  7. In the product section subfolder, select the subfolder link of the role associated with the rule you want to enable or disable.
    1. For the example above, in the exposure-lvl-accounting-payment subfolder, you would select claims-assistant
  8. In the role subfolder, select the claim or exposure status file link associated with the rule you want to enable or disable.
    1. For the example above, in the claims-assistant subfolder, you would select Exposure Lvl Accounting Payment – Claims Assistant – Exposure Status Reopen
  9. In the file link, you will see the following tabs: Code Editor, Rule Editor, Advanced. Rule Editor opens by default, and in the Rule Editor tab you can enable or disable the rules. Beneath Actions, navigate to the rule you want to enable or disable.
    1. For the example above, in the Exposure Lvl Accounting Payment – Claims Assistant – Exposure Status Reopen file, the only rule that appears beneath Actions is Set element visible: edit-payment. Navigate to Set element visible: edit-payment.
  10. Next to the rule you want to enable or disable you’ll see a True/False toggle. Select False to disable the rule. Select True to enable the rule.
    1. For the example above, to disable the rule Set element visible: edit-payment, select False.
  11. Select Save.
