Remove parties

If you add the wrong party or vendor to a claim, you can remove the party from a claim file in the claim system. Removing a party will dissociate them from the claim file, but it won’t delete the party from BriteCore Contacts.

Remove involved parties

You can remove involved parties as long as the following conditions exist for the party:

  • The involved party isn’t the Primary Insured.
  • The involved party isn’t associated with an exposure.
  • The involved party isn’t a payee on a payment.
  • The involved party doesn’t have associated parties.
  • The involved party isn’t associated with a risk, such as a vehicle or third party damaged property.

If you try to remove an involved party that doesn’t meet the above conditions, an error message will appear at the top of the screen stating:

Cannot remove party: The party is the Primary Insured. The party has exposure(s). The party is a payee on a payment. The party is associated as the Owner of a Vehicle.

If the party needs to be removed, the identified relationships must be removed before the party can be removed. A party with the role of Pedestrian can be removed from the claim.

To remove an involved party:

  1. Navigate to the Involved and Associated Parties section.
Figure 1: The Remove button for an involved party.
  2. Navigate to the involved party you want to remove and select Remove. A pop-up window will open asking:

Are you sure you want to remove <Party name>?

  3. Select Yes to continue with removing the party. Select Cancel to return to the Involved and Associated Parties section without removing the party.

Remove associated parties

You can remove associated parties as long as the following conditions exist for the party:

  • The associated party isn’t associated with more than one involved party.
  • The associated party isn’t a payee on a payment.

To remove a party that doesn’t meet the above conditions, you must first remove the party’s relationships before you can remove the party. To see if an associated party is associated with more than one involved party, select the associated party’s role to view the role relationships. You will need to remove these relationships before you can remove the party. Associated parties will appear in the Vendors / Other section of the Parties screen.

To remove an associated party:

  1. Navigate to the involved party that the associated party is connected to.
  2. Select the people icons to the right of the involved party name. This will open the Associated Parties section.
Figure 2: The Remove button for an associated party.
  3. Select Remove next to the name of the associated party you want to remove.

Removing Vendors/Others

You can remove parties from the Vendors / Other section if the following conditions exist:

  • The party isn’t associated with another involved party.
  • The party isn’t a payee on a payment.

To remove a party that doesn’t meet the above conditions, you must first remove the party’s relationships before you can remove the party. To see if a Vendors / Other party is associated with more than one involved party, select the party’s role to view the role relationships. You will need to remove these relationships before you can remove the party. Vendors / Other parties can also be added as associated parties in the Involved and Associated Parties section.

To remove a party from the Vendors / Other section:

  1. Navigate to the Vendors / Other section.
Figure 3: The Remove button for vendors and others.
  2. Navigate to the party you want to remove and select Remove. A pop-up window will open asking:

Are you sure you want to remove <Party Name>?

  3. Select Yes to remove contact. If you select Cancel, you will return to the Vendors / Other section without removing the party.
