Rewrite a policy

You can rewrite a policy from the policy header of a policy’s Overview screen. When you rewrite a policy, you can choose to only rewrite the policy, or you can choose to cancel and then rewrite the policy. A new policy ID is assigned to the rewritten policy.

To rewrite the policy: 

  1. Select Policies and Quotes.
  2. Search for and access the policy you want to rewrite. You will automatically be directed to the Overview screen.
  3. In the policy header, select More. A dropdown list will display.
  4. Select Rewrite Policy. The Rewrite Policy dialog box will open. See Figure 1.
  5. For the question, Do you want to cancel the policy? select No.
  6. In the Effective date box, use the date picker to select the effective date of the rewrite or type the effective date of the rewrite.
  7. Select Confirm.

To cancel and rewrite the policy: 

  1. Select Policies and Quotes.
  2. Search for and access the policy you want to rewrite. You will automatically be directed to the Overview screen.
  3. In the policy header, select More. A dropdown list will display.
  4. Select Rewrite Policy. The Rewrite Policy dialog box will open. See Figure 1.
  5. For the question, Do you want to cancel the policy? select Yes. Additional fields will appear in the dialog box.
  6. In the Cancellation date box, use the date picker to select the cancellation date for the policy or type the cancellation date.
  7. From the Reason dropdown list, select the reason for cancellation.
  8. In the Effective date box, use the date picker to select the effective date of the rewrite or type the effective date of the rewrite.
  9. Select Confirm.

Quote Flow

When you complete the Rewrite Policy dialog box, you will be directed to the quote flow, where you can rewrite the policy. Complete the fields and steps in the quote flow process. See quote flow overview and Submit quotes for more information.

Quote flow considerations for rewriting a policy

  • Highlighted fields and/or fields marked with an asterisk (*) are required. 
  • When you rewrite a policy, you will need to rate it again. After you edit the information you want to edit and complete the review, select Rate Quote
  • Re-enter billing information once the quote is rated, submitted, and approved. 
  • You will need to bind the quote, to complete the Quote Flow process for the rewritten policy. Select Bind Quote
