Step 6 – Additional parties

The next step in the FNOL process is to complete the Additional Parties screen. Parties added elsewhere in the FNOL or associated with the policy the claim is filed on will populate the Additional Parties screen. All roles associated with the party during the FNOL process will also appear next to the parties. See Figure 1. Roles will determine which section the party is placed in: Involved and Associated Parties or Vendors/Others.  In the Additional Parties screen, you can add involved parties, associated parties, vendors, and other parties.

Figure 1: The Additional Parties screen in the FNOL. Notice the roles assigned to each party.

To add involved parties:

  1. Select + Add Party in the Involved and Associated Parties section. A menu will open with the available roles you can add to the Involved and Associated Parties section.

Note: In the Additional Parties screen, the only involved party you can add is Pedestrian.

  2. Select Pedestrian. A submenu of contacts associated with the claim will populate. If the name of the pedestrian isn’t listed, select Add New Party. The Add Party dialog box will open. By default, the Search for an Existing Contact view will display in the Add Party dialog box.
    1. If the party you’re adding is an existing contact, search for the contact in the Add Party dialog box. See Search for an existing contact.
    2. If the party you’re adding doesn’t exist in the system, select Add new contact as party and complete the contact information in the Add Party dialog box. See Add new contact as a party – Individual.

To add additional associated parties:

  1. In the Involved and Associated Parties section, select the row of an involved party that you want to add an associated party to. The Associated Parties tree will open.
  2. Select + Add Associated Party. A menu of configurable roles for the associated party will appear.
  3. Select the role of the associated party. A submenu of contacts already associated with the claim will open.
  4. Select the name of the associated party from the list of contacts. The contact will populate in the Associated Parties tree. If the associated party doesn’t exist in the menu of contacts select Add New Party. Depending on the role you select, the Add Party dialog box is configured to default to one of two views: the Search for an Existing Contact view or the Add new contact as a party view.
    1. If the party exists in the system, search for the contact in the Add Party dialog box. See Search for an existing contact.

Note: If you don’t see the search box, and you see the link Search for an existing contact, you will need to first select Search for an Existing Contact to access that view.

    2. If the party doesn’t exist in the system, add the new contact as a party. Depending on the role you’ve selected for the associated party, the Add Party dialog box will display Individual contact fields, Organization contact fields, or give you the option to select if the new contact is an Individual or Organization. See Add new contact as a party – Individual and Add new contact as a party – Organization.

Note: If you don’t see the fields available to add a new contact, and you see the link Add new contact as a party, select Add new contact as a party to access that view.

To add vendors or other parties:

  1. In the Vendors/Other section, select + Add Vendor/Other. A menu of configurable roles for the Vendor/Other party will appear.
  2. Select the role you’re adding. The Add Party dialog box will open. Depending on the role you select, the Add Party dialog box will default to the Search for an Existing Contact view or the Add new contact as party view.

Depending on the role you selected for the associated party, the Add Party dialog box will display Individual contact fields, Organization contact fields, or give you the option to select if the new contact is an Individual or Organization. See Add new contact as a party – Individual and Add new contact as a party – Organization.

Note: If you don’t see the fields available to add a new contact, and you see the link Add new contact as a party, select Add new contact as a party to access that view.

When you’re finished adding parties, select Continue to move to the next step of the FNOL process.

Usage considerations

Information added and contained within this portion of the FNOL will populate the Parties screen of the claim. Parties added will also populate Add Party dropdown lists when you try to associate a party to different sections of the claim file.
