Update age-related items on renewal

With the advanced setting enforce-yearbuilt-cross-terms enabled, when a policy is renewed or even rewritten, any items including values pertaining to age (age of roof, age of home, etc.) will automatically update to match the prior term’s values. This ensures consistency across revisions.

There are two methods you can use to enable this advanced setting:

  • Method 1: On the Advanced Settings screen.
  • Method 2: On the Policies settings screen.

To enable the advanced setting on the Advanced settings screen:

  1. Navigate to Settings > Advanced.
  2. In the Search for a Policy box, type enforce-yearbuilt-cross-terms.
  3. Press Enter/Return on your keyboard or select Search.
  4. Change the setting from False to True.

To enable the advanced setting on the Policies settings screen:

  1. Navigate to Settings > Modules > Policies > Processing.
  2. Select the checkbox Enable ‘enforce-yearbuilt-cross-terms’ Advanced Setting.
  3. Select Save.

Revise age-related values

To revise age-related values to something other than the value included in a prior term, you must temporarily turn off the enforce-yearbuilt-cross-terms setting. Once the setting is disabled, create a new revision for the policy, correct the age-related values, and save the changes. Once the changes are saved, you can enable the setting again. The setting will ensure the age-related values will always check against the correct prior revision date.

To revise the age-related values:

  1. Use Method 1 or Method 2 to navigate to the setting. If using Method 1, change the advanced setting from True to False. If using Method 2, unselect the setting checkbox and select Save.
  2. Navigate to the Policies module.
  3. On the Policy Search screen, locate and access the desired policy.
  4. In the policy header, select New next to Revision. The New Revision dialog box will display.
  5. In the Revision Date boxes, type the effective date of the revision using MM/DD/YYYY format.
  6. Select Done.
  7. Navigate to and select the Builder tab
  8. Next to Dwelling Rating Info, select the down arrow.
  9. Navigate to the age-related field that you want to update. Complete your updates.
  10. Select Rate and Save.
  11. Select Commit Revision. The Commit Revision dialog box will display.
  12. Review the information in the dialog box to ensure it is correct, then select OK.
  13. Navigate to Settings > Advanced.
  14. In the Search for a Policy box, type enforce-yearbuilt-cross-terms.
  15. Press Enter/Return on your keyboard or select Search.
  16. Change the setting from False to True.
