The Help site contains a lot of data that can be useful in many ways outside of simply existing on the site.

Using the WP Import Export Lite plugin, you can collect specific data, use the data to create a report, and export the report in a particular file format.

Create and export a report

  1. On the Dashboard, select WP Imp Exp, and then select New Export.
  2. Under Choose what to export, in the Select Export Type dropdown list, select Post.
  3. Select Add filtering options, and then complete the following steps:
    1. Under Element, in the Select Element dropdown list, select Categories.
    2. Under Rule, in the Select Rule dropdown list, select In.
    3. In the Value box, type the exact name of the category you want in the report, and then select the add filter icon .
      Note: You must select the add filter icon to add the filter to the report.
  4. Select Choose Fields, and then set up your report by completing one or more of the following steps:
    1. To move a field to a new location, hover over the field you want to move, select and hold the move icon , and then drag the field to the desired location.
    2. To remove a field from the report, hover over the field you want to remove, and then select the trash can icon .
    3. To add a new field, select + Add, and then, in the Export Field Editor dialog box, complete the following steps:
      1. In the Field value dropdown list, select the type of field you want to add.
        Note: The name in the Field Name box will automatically change based on option you select in the Field value dropdown list.
      2. Select Save.
  5. Select Advanced Options, and then complete the following steps:
    1. Under Export File Type, in the Choose Export file type dropdown list, select the appropriate file format.
    2. In the Export File Name box, type the name of the report.
  6. In the top-right corner of the screen, select Customize Export File.
  7. In the Export Completed dialog box, when the progress bar displays 100%, select Download.
    Note: The progress bar will still look like it’s working when it’s complete. When the progress bar displays 100%, the report is ready to be downloaded.

Export a report from a template

Note: To create a Release note report, in step 3, select Release Notes Template.

  1. On the Dashboard, select WP Imp Exp, and then select New Export.
  2. Under Choose what to export, in the Select Export Type dropdown list, select Post.
  3. Under Load Template, in the Select Template dropdown list, select the template you want to load.
  4. Select Advanced Options, and then complete the following steps:
    1. Under Export File Type, in the Choose Export file type dropdown list, select the appropriate file format.
    2. In the Export File Name box, delete the template file name, and then type the name of the new report.
  5. In the top-right corner of the screen, select Customize Export File.
  6. In the Export Completed dialog box, when the progress bar displays 100%, select Download.

    Note: The progress bar will still look like it’s working when it’s complete. When the progress bar displays 100%, the report is ready to be downloaded.

Preview a report

  • After add filtering options, at the top of the screen, you can select Preview to preview the report.

    Note: Any changes you make to the report will be reflected each time you select Preview.

Save a report template

  • Once your report is ready to export, in the Save Template box, type the name of the template, and then select¬†Save.
