In the Contacts List tab, you can search for a specific contact with the Search box and narrow search results with the Filter By dropdown list. Once you locate specific contacts, you can view and update the saved contact information. Administrators, employees, underwriters, and carriers can access the Contacts module to search for a contact.
Permissions
Depending on user permissions, you may be unable to search for contacts in a different role. For example, underwriters may be restricted from searching and viewing administrators.
The following steps will help you identify such restrictions:
- Select Contacts in the BriteCore menu.
- In the Contacts List tab, navigate to the Filter By dropdown list.
- Select the Filter By dropdown list to open the list.
- View the roles you intend to search. If the role(s) by which you intend to search are gray or you're unable to select them, restrictions are in place.

Contacts search
A contact search can be conducted within the Contacts List tab of the Contacts module or by using Contacts Quick Search in BriteCore.
Contacts List search
Follow these steps to search for contacts within the Contacts module:
- Select Contacts in the BriteCore menu.
- In the Contacts List tab, navigate to the Search box.
- In the Search box, type search criteria, such as contact name, role, phone number, email address, street address, city, state, or zip code.
Note: You can use the Help link above the Search box to view additional search tips.
- Press Enter/Return on your keyboard, or select Go.
Contact Quick Search
Follow these steps to search for contacts within the Administrator portal of BriteCore using the Contact Quick Search:
- Press g followed by n on your keyboard to open the Contact Quick Search dialog box.
- In the search box of the dialog box, type search criteria, such as contact name, role, phone number, email address, street address, city, state, or ZIP code.
Note: Enter specific search criteria to generate relevant results in the Matching Contacts list.
- In the Matching Contacts list, use your keyboard arrows to navigate to the contact that matches your search.
- Press Enter/Return on your keyboard. BriteCore will direct you to the Information tab of the selected contact.
If the contact was recently viewed, it may appear in the Recently Viewed Contacts list below the search box in the Contact Quick Search dialog box. Use the keyboard arrows to navigate through the Recently Viewed Contacts list to select the contact you want to view, and then press Enter/Return on your keyboard.
Usage considerations
You can filter contacts and search results lists using the Filter By dropdown list. From the Filter By dropdown list, select the role you want to filter. You can use the Filter By dropdown list in lieu of entering search criteria, prior to entering search criteria, or after search results are generated. The contacts or search results lists can be filtered by only one role at a time. You can use the Help link above the Search box to view additional search tips.
