In the Lines module, you can use Line Item Groups, Deductible Groups, and Premium Groups as additional tools to build lines of business.
To access additional Lines tools:
- In the BriteCore menu, select Lines.
- On the Lines - Effective Dates screen, select the applicable effective date.
- On the Effective Date - Policy Types screen, select Components, and then select one of the following:
- Line Item Groups.
- Deductible Groups.
- Premium Groups.
Line Item Groups
Note: This functionality has been superseded by underwriting rules.
Using Line Item Groups, you can establish a relationship among line items. Users are prompted to add the other items within the group when:
- Line items are related.
- One of the items in the line item group is added to a policy.
Deductible Groups
Using Deductible Groups, you can create and sync a single set of deductibles across line items.
Example:
A Homeowner's Deductible Group with deductibles of $100.00, $250.00, $500.00, $1,000.00, and $2,500.00 can be referenced during the lines build. The five deductibles load when the group is selected, eliminating the need to retype them.
In addition, syncing allows line items to share deductibles. A deductible can display on multiple line items without the need to update it on each one.
Deductible Groups permit two modifications to the premium amount:
- Discounts for higher deductibles.
- Surcharges for lower deductibles.
Note: Once a deductible group is added to a line item, the modifications to the premium amount are automatically calculated during policy issuance.
Premium Groups
Using Premium Groups, you can identify a minimum or maximum premium amount for coverage groups.
Example: Coverages A, B, C, and D can be grouped with a minimum premium of $100. In this case, BriteCore charges at least $100 for this coverage group.
