There are times when you may need to create a contact with a duplicate SSN. For example, if you don’t know a contact’s SSN, your agency may use a substitute number for all contacts with unknown SSNs, such as 000-00-0000. You can allow or prevent the creation of contacts with a duplicate SSN.
To manage duplicate SSNs, navigate to Settings > Modules > Contacts, and then:
- Navigate to the Duplicate SSNs section.
- Select the Allow creation of contacts with duplicate SSNs. checkbox to allow duplicate SSNs. Uncheck the checkbox to prevent adding duplicate SSNs.
- Select Save.
Usage considerations
The Allow creation of contacts with duplicate SSNs. checkbox is directly related to the allow-duplicate-ssn advanced setting. When you select the Allow creation of contacts with duplicate SSNs. checkbox, BriteCore automatically changes the allow-duplicate-ssn advanced setting to True. When you set allow-duplicate-ssn to False, BriteCore automatically unchecks the Allow creation of contacts with duplicate SSNs. checkbox.
