Introduction
The Payments settings control how payment processing fees are charged and described, and how a payment that does not match the amount due is handled. Carrier administrators use them to set fees by state and show the right disclosures to policyholders. They also use them to record consent when a payment method is saved and to decide what happens when a payment is less or more than the amount due. This article shows where each page lives and links to the article for each task.
How Payments Settings Work
The Payments settings group two pages in the Settings menu. Each page controls a different part of the payment process.

The two pages work at different moments. Payment Fees applies when a policyholder or staff member chooses a payment method and sees the fee. Distribution Rules applies after a payment is received, to determine where the money goes.
Formulas belong to the Payment Fees page only. Distribution rules use conditions and outcomes, not formulas.
Before You Begin
Confirm the following before you start:
- You have access to the Payments settings. Read access lets you view a page, and write access lets you save changes.
- For fees, your organization uses Stripe Connect and has the Payment Processor integration installed. The Payment Fees article describes both requirements.
Open the Payments Settings
- Select Settings in the left navigation.
- Select Payments to expand the menu.
- Select Payment Fees or Distribution Rules.
The Payments menu opens on Payment Fees. The page address for Payment Fees is /britecore/settings/payments.
