Capture and keep a record of consent when a payment method is stored for future use.
Introduction
The Saved payment method authorization section on the Payment Fees page controls whether payment screens offer a Save payment method checkbox. Carrier administrators use it to show the right authorization text and to keep a record of each approval. This article explains the section, who sees which text, and what BriteCore keeps.
How Saved Payment Method Authorization Works
When you turn the option on, payment screens show a Save payment method checkbox with the applicable authorization text. Selecting the checkbox records approval and stores the payment method for future use.
Two texts exist, and the person saving the method sees the one that applies to them:
- Third-party (agent) attestation: The text an agent affirms when saving a payment method on a policyholder's behalf.
- First-party (policyholder) authorization: The text for a policyholder saving their own payment method.
BriteCore saves each approval with the exact text shown, the policyholder, and the person who performed the approval. It also writes a note titled Saved Payment Method Authorization on the policyholder's contact.
These settings apply to the whole carrier. BriteCore uses the Global values, and a state override does not change them.
Before You Begin
Confirm the following before you start:
- You have administrator access to Settings > Payments > Payment Fees.
- The Stripe Payment Processor integration is connected under Settings > Vendor Integrations. Without it, the option is off and no text shows.
- You have the third-party attestation text approved by your compliance team.
Turn On the Save Payment Method Option
- Go to Settings > Payments > Payment Fees.
- Scroll to Saved payment method authorization.
- Enter the attestation in the Third-party (agent) attestation field.
- Turn on Show "Save payment method" option on payment screens.
- Select Save changes.
The switch stays off until the third-party attestation field has text. The page shows Add a third-party attestation message below before turning this on until you add it.
Write the Authorization Text
Enter plain text only. BriteCore does not accept HTML in these fields.
- Enter the agent's attestation in Third-party (agent) attestation.
- Enter the policyholder's authorization in First-party (policyholder) authorization.
- Select Save changes.
Use the merge tag {{agent_name}} in the third-party text to insert the agent's name. BriteCore replaces the tag with the agent's name when it shows the text and when it records the approval.
Turn Off the Option
- Go to Settings > Payments > Payment Fees.
- Turn off Show "Save payment method" option on payment screens.
- Select Save changes.
Payment screens no longer offer the checkbox. Approvals that BriteCore already recorded stay on file.
