The policy inception date is the date the policy was first created on. This is different than the term effective date. The policy term effective date is the effective date of the current term. You may need to edit the inception date if the insured needs the policy to take effect earlier or later than you originally discussed.
Note: To change the effective date of the policy, a cancel/rewrite is needed
To edit the inception date on a policy:
- Select Policies.
- On the Policies List screen, select a policy number to open a policy.
- Beside Inception Date, select Edit to open the Policy Inception Date dialog box.
- In the Date boxes, type the new policy inception date.
- Select Done.
