Overview:
System administrators now have enhanced control over authority limits in claims management. A dedicated page has been added for convenient access to all authority limit configurations, accessible from Settings → System Wide → Authority Limits.
Configure Authority Limits:
System administrators can set authority limits at different levels to precisely control various transactions. If a specific level doesn't have a set authority limit, the software won't impose any restrictions.
Note: These authority limits follow the principle of least privilege, ensuring users have only the necessary access unless specified otherwise. This applies to system administrators as well. While system administrators can configure authority limits for user categories mentioned below, they don't automatically have authority unless it's explicitly granted.
The configuration hierarchy includes:
1. Authority Limit can be defined for the following:
- Everyone: Establish universal baseline limits for all users.
- By User Group: Tailor limits based on user group memberships.
Note: See user group section below for more information
- By Permission Level: Set distinct limits based on permission levels.
- For Individual Contacts: Customize limits for specific individuals.
Once you choose who/what grouping needs to be configured then move to the next step.
2. Select the line effective date
3. Select the Business Location (i.e. State).
4. Select the Policy Type associated with the authority limit being set up.
5. Select the policy coverages. The authority limit screen allows the tailoring of authority limits for different policy coverages associated with the chosen policy type.
6. Choose the type of limit aggregation:
- Individual: Consider only the current exposure's values.
- Coverage Aggregate: Consider all exposures' values for the current coverage.
- Claim Aggregate: Consider all exposures for the entire claim.
7. Dollar Figures for Various Transactions:
-
Specify dollar figures for each transaction type to establish authority limits:
- Loss Reserve, Adjusting Reserve, Legal Reserve, Expense Reserve.
- Loss Payment, Adjusting Payment, Legal Payment, Expense Payment.
User Groups Setup:
To utilize authority limits at a user group level, administrators need to set up user groups and associate contacts with these groups. A new page for managing user groups is added, accessible from Contacts → User Groups, streamlining the association process.
Validation of Transactions:
The system introduces a validation process for reserve and payment transactions made for claims. When updating claims accounting,BriteCore validates these transactions against the configured authority limits.
User Notifications and Administrator Alerts:
During payment or reserve transactions, if any configured authority limits are exceeded, a warning is displayed to the end-user (such as a claims adjuster). In case the user belongs to a user group with an administrator having a configured email in BriteCore, the user can choose to notify the administrator about the transaction change. If no administrator is assigned or lacks an email, the user can only cancel the message, preventing the transaction change.
Automatic Copy of Authority Limits:
When a new effective date is created, all authority limits established for a policy type or policy type item are automatically copied over to the new effective date for the same policy type or item. This feature ensures consistency and efficiency in managing authority limits across different effective dates.
