Underwriting rules use triggers and effects to improve the quoting experience by limiting the number of questions an agent has to answer. Triggers are conditions based on certain criteria and policy types, and when a trigger’s conditions are met, BriteCore completes all the actions in the Effects section, narrowing the scope of quoting form questions.
To add triggers and effects to an underwriting rule:
- In the Lines module, on the Effective Dates tab, select the effective date you want to use.
- On the Policy Types screen, select the Underwriting dropdown list, and then select Rules.
- In the Choose a Policy Type dropdown list, select the policy type of the rule you want to create triggers and effects for.
- In the Underwriting Rules section, navigate to the rule you want to add triggers and effects to, and then select the Edit pencil icon.
- On the Rules screen, in the Triggers section, select Add Trigger, and then complete the following steps:
- In the Policy Type Item dropdown list, select the policy type item you want to create a trigger for. The Policy Type Item dropdown list options are populated based on the underwriting rule’s category scope.
- In the Trigger Type box, select the type of trigger you want to add. The trigger type determines the Label Name dropdown list options.
- In the Label Name dropdown list, select the trigger’s label name.
- In the Value dropdown list, select a value for the trigger. The Value dropdown list is active only if you select Limit as the Trigger Type.
- In the Effects section, select Add Effect, and then complete the following steps:
- In the Action dropdown list, select the action you want to happen when the trigger conditions are met. The action you select determines the options in the other columns.
- In the Policy Type Item dropdown list, select the policy type item you want to create an effect for.
- In the Label Name dropdown list, select the effect’s label name. The label name is available only if you select one of the following from the Action dropdown list: Set Category Option, Remove Category Option, or Hide Supplemental Question.
- In the Option dropdown list, select an option for the effect. The Option is available only if you select one of the following from the Action dropdown list: Set Category Option or Remove Category Option.
- Select Save.
Important:
- When all trigger conditions are met, BriteCore completes all the actions in the Effects section.
- If you select Hard Reverse, BriteCore completes the opposite of the effect if all of the triggers aren't met.
