In the Catastrophes screen, you can add a new catastrophe. When you add a catastrophe, the catastrophe will appear in the Catastrophe dialog box when you select to add a catastrophe to a claim.
To add a new catastrophe:
- Select Components from the Claims menu.
- Select Catastrophes from the Components dropdown list.
- Select Add a New Catastrophe +. The Catastrophe dialog box will open.
Figure 1: The Add a New Catastrophe + button and the Catastrophe dialog box. - In the New Catastrophe box, type the name of the catastrophe; for example, Hurricane Dorian.
- In the PCS Code box, type the PCS number assigned to the catastrophe.
Note: The appearance of the PCS Code box is determined by the advanced setting catastrophes-pcs-code-field. If the advanced setting is set to True, the PCS Code box will appear. If the advanced setting is set to False, the PCS Code box won't appear.
- In the Add Perils to the Loss Cause using the items below section, you can add perils from the Perils list to the Loss Cause box. When you select perils, they automatically populate in the Loss Cause box. You can select perils by:
- Typing the peril name or code in the Search box and selecting Go.
- Selecting perils from the Perils list.
- In the Start Date and Start Time boxes, enter the start date and time of the catastrophe. In the Start Date boxes, use the MM/DD/YYYY format. In the Start Time boxes, use the HH:MM format, and select the AM or PM radio button.
- In the End Date and End Time boxes, enter the end date and time of the catastrophe. In the End Date boxes, use the MM/DD/YYYY format. In the End Time boxes, use the HH:MM format, and select the AM or PM radio button.
- In the Location box, type the location of the catastrophe.
Note: The appearance of the Location box is determined by the advanced setting catastrophes-location-field. If the advanced setting is set to True, the Location box will appear. If the advanced setting is set to False, the Location box won't appear.
- When you're finished adding information about the catastrophe, select Done.
