If an account generates a return premium due to overpayment, but an upcoming endorsement will reduce that credit, you may select to reject the return premium.
In the Provider Administrator portal, you can opt to reject the return premium, regardless of how the return premium is generated:
- If a return premium is in the Return Premium Queue, it can be rejected.
- If a return premium has already been exported from the Return Premium Queue, then it will need to be voided, rather than rejected.
Note: BriteCore recommends clients use the rejected return premium feature.
Reject a return premium
If you want the option to reject a return premium, enable the clear_return_premium_reject advanced setting.
The clear_return_premium_reject advanced setting:
- Removes the return premium from the Return Premium Queue.
- Adds the return premium back to the policy as a separate Rejected: Return Premium row in the Account History table.
- Creates a Return Premium Rejected note.
To enable the clear_return_premium_reject advanced setting:
- In BriteCore, select Settings.
- On the Settings screen, select Advanced.
- On the Advanced Settings screen, in the Search box, type clear_return_premium_reject, and then select Search.
- In the clear_return_premium_reject box, select True.
Prevent the Return Premium Notice from printing
If you want to prevent the Return Premium Notice from printing when a return premium is rejected, set the print state in the rp-print-state-on-reject advanced setting. To set the print state for the Return Premium Notice when a return premium is rejected:
- In BriteCore, select Settings.
- On the Settings screen, select Advanced.
- On the Advanced Settings screen, in the Search box, type rp-print-state-on-reject, and then select Search.
- In the Setting Value box, type a valid print state.
Example: Type do not print or void.
If the functionality doesn't work after completing the steps above, please contact BriteCore.
Usage considerations
- When you reject a return premium, a separate transaction row is created in the Account History table on the Accounts Receivable screen.
- When a return premium is rejected, an audit trail is created on the Accounts Receivable screen.
- When a return premium is deleted, an audit trail isn't created.
