Task Management and Workflows work together to define, assign, and automate work in BriteCore.
Task Management defines the work your team performs: task types, outcomes, and who can be assigned to them.
Workflows automate when that work happens. They respond to policy, claim, billing, and task events to create tasks, route work, wait for deadlines or task completion, branch based on conditions and outcomes, and send alerts.
In most cases, start by configuring your task types and outcomes in Task Management, then use those task types in your workflows.
Before You Begin
Task Management is always available under Settings > Modules. Workflows is off by default. To turn it on for your site, contact your BriteCore representative. Once it is on, Workflows appears under Settings > Modules. [confirm: or turn Workflows on by default, per Bruno's comment]
To create and edit workflows, you need read-write access to the britecore/workflows/configuration permission. Read access lets you view workflows without changing them. [confirm: the permission needed to create and edit task types]
How the pieces work together
Task type: A reusable definition of a job, such as Underwriting Review, Wind Mitigation Review, or Inspection.
Outcomes: The dispositions available when someone completes a task, such as Passed, Failed, or Refer to Underwriting. Workflows can branch based on the selected outcome.
Assignees: The roles or users eligible to work a task and the strategy BriteCore uses to select one.
Workflow: An automation that responds to an event and can create or update tasks, route work, wait for an action or deadline, and send alerts.
Note: Every workflow has a scope of Policy, Claims, or Billing. You select the scope when you create the workflow, and you cannot change it later. It determines which triggers and task types are available to the workflow.
