The run-property-lookup-upon-rate-and-save
advanced setting allows administrators to manage when external rating services are triggered, especially when these services are used solely for setting user inputs in BriteCore's rating engine without affecting rating categories or underwriting rules (UWR). This setting was created as a separate control from the broader integration-run-automatically
setting to address scenarios where a property lookup is needed but should not involve automatic triggering of underwriting rules.
Purpose and Use Case
This setting is particularly useful when integrating with external rating services, like TigerCQ, which may include specific underwriting rules (UWR) as part of its process. If an underwriting rule is inadvertently triggered, it may apply additional coverages or discounts that agents had previously removed. To prevent unintended changes, this setting can control when to trigger underwriting based on category changes versus simple user input adjustments.
Key Configuration Points
-
Setting Control:
- Go to Settings > Advanced.
- Locate the setting run-property-lookup-upon-rate-and-save.
- Enable this setting to run the property lookup automatically whenever Rate and Save is selected, but restrict UWR triggers to relevant conditions.
-
Behavior Based on Changes:
- Category Changes: Underwriting rules (UWR) will trigger upon property lookup output if there is a category change detected, as these could affect policy eligibility or coverage options.
- User Input Changes Only: If only user inputs change without altering categories, UWR will not be triggered. This is because underwriting rules should not execute for standard user input modifications that do not affect policy categorization.
-
Example Scenario:
- If TigerCQ is enabled and an agent adjusts a user input field within the BriteCore rating, UWR should not trigger unless this change impacts the policy category.
- This avoids unwanted re-application of discounts or coverage additions previously removed by the agent, preserving the intended policy setup.
Important Notes
- This configuration allows for more tailored integration with external rating services, providing flexibility to adjust inputs for BriteCore's rating engine without unnecessary underwriting review.
- The integration-run-automatically setting remains active for integrations where underwriting and rating categories are tightly linked, but the run-property-lookup-upon-rate-and-save setting provides a more targeted control over when underwriting rules are applied.
- This does not work with integrations enabled via settings > Vendors
This setup ensures that underwriting rules are only triggered when necessary, streamlining the rating workflow while maintaining accuracy in policy adjustments.
